Engine oil VALVOLINE or AMSOIL
Go with ams oil I use to talk mad shit about the product but honestly I’m pretty satisfied with it because Harley’s syn 3 is just become trash leaving lifters ticking on and the bike has always had the Harley tick but it has quieted it all down. Just my opinion though..
I use Amsoil in all three, but I use their VTwin kit for my M8. Different trans, primary and engine oils.
I was absolutely amazed at how much smoother and more responsive the bike was.
Ams oil, yes it's overpriced but it is the best and going from stock HD fluids in the primary and tranny it does shift noticeably quieter and it's much easier to find neutral
I use Amsoil for all 3 and ride a 2008 H-D Softail Crossbones
I use [this for crankcase oil](https://www.amsoil.com/p/amsoil-20w-50-synthetic-v-twin-oil-change-kit--4-quarts-with-chrome-filter-hdck/) - now 4quarts = 1 gallon so there's a bit extra in this but it also comes with an oil filter.
I run amsoil. They have specific oil for all 3 holes. Seems to quiet down transmission and primary on my 01 road king
I run Amsoil signature with an amsoil or wix filter, I usually only do 3k intervals to keep the 257 happy though lol.
One step above “full synthetic” is “100% synthetic” from Amsoil. Switched years ago, car has a subtle purr.
Just swapped over to Valvoline Restore and Protect in my N52 BMW daily driver with 215k miles. I drive a lot and am taking before and after photos inside the valve train. I have exclusively used Castrol Edge A3/B4 for years so I will have a true comparative.
Valvoline is the best oil I can recommend to you. Not even Royal Purple matches it in quality. They have a +75K miles and a +150K miles version of the oil. All of my cars are now on it after trying them all (Mobil, Royal Purple, Pennzoil, Castrol), the only one that effectively prevented oil burn and sealed any leaks in my other cars was Valvoline.
I personally prefer Valvoline, they seem to know what they're doing and have their own engine lab to test and experiment with oils, and that oil they made specifically for hi-milage engines work bloody good at rejuvenating a smoky old engine.
