Engine oil VALVOLINE or AMSOIL
I just changed the oil in my car and I used Amsoil 5w40 European blend. No complaints so far.
I wouldn't use anything other than Amsoil I recently purchased some to change my R's oil soon.
Yeah...same reason I switched. I love Amsoil...and so do my engines trannies and diffs. It just gets too expensive using the Amsoil engine oil with the oil change frequencies that I use ( Every 8,000KM ).
Rotella T6 here. I was a long time Amsoil guy, but it's just too fracking expensive, especially with the amount of miles I drive a week.
I'm running Amsoil in my 06 GTi and loving it. No trouble with that I can tell, I check dipstick every fillup occasionally have to add some but not a quart, not even .25 of a quart. I've got almost 72k on the clock I did my last oil change around 67500 maybe a little more, and oil is still clean. Car sounds no louder or different from oil dealer had put in it.
Anyway, when I had my Passat 1.8T and sludge issues were the big fad, my oil of choice was Valvoline Synpower 5w40. It met 502 and was not a synthetic blend but rather a real synthetic.
I use valvoline because it's common and it does the job. My auto mechanics instructor also recommended it because he said most of the engines he'd taken apart that had run valvoline looked pretty crud free.
i run 5-40 amsoil in my VRT as well
It's a little more pricey but extends change intervals and has worked for me. Keeps engine temps a bit cooler as well.
Now i am referring to amsoil, Delo 400, mobil one turbo deisel truck oil.
