Headlights Hella or OEM BMW
So, I built these headlights a couple years ago for my R32. Basically I started with a brand new set of MK5-look Hella lamps, and cut them up to fit actual D2S factory MK5 Bi-Xenon projectors in them, and wired it all with theretrofitsource.com bulbs and ballasts. These are as nice as can be, and really have tremendous and clean light output.
Some 30 year old Hella Smileys for my 448k mile car really seemed to clean things up.
I can vouch for the quality of these lights, they and a huge u[grade from the stock setup: they have a nice output and cutoff.
Hella is just going to be better quality than those no-name brands.
Mine came with a nice set of IPF e-codes. I want to replace them with some Hellas to add the city light.
The only major difference appears to be the manufacturer of the sets. The ECS ones are made by Hella and the Parts4Euro ones are made by Depo. Go with the Hella.
Hey, I just bought a set of Hella Quad Headlights for my MK3.
I have preface lift and planning to upgrade, the chrome is the biggest problem with pre-LCI, cars don't don't have blacked out headlights look dated after a while.
Do yourself a favor and don't change original Hella headlights for aftermarket crap. The beam pattern will suck, you won't see a thing and they do a poor job of copying the look of the originals so all look like balls.
My BMW 2020 X7 lease is up and I’d like to do a lease buyout. My right headlight is cracked and BMW won’t repair it. Can I still do a lease buyout with the damaged headlight or will I be charged for that? BMW gave me a repair cost of almost 9k.
