Oil filter Fram or Mobil
Mobil 1 M1-108's for the Infiniti/my wife's Legacy. And the Extended Performance oil along with it. Been doing slightly extended drain intervals on multiple vehicles for close to 15 years with no ill effects. Valvetrains are exceptionally clean on any of the previous vehicles where i've pulled the covers.
I have recently switched back from a K&N to a Mobile 1 oil filter. It seems to be better no ticking noise.
my last couple oil changes used Fram filters for their superior double layered synth media filtration.
Cut open the Fram XG3614 ... barely noticeable filtermagnet deposits on the inside.... definitely another quality filter:
I used a Fram XG3614 filter. Since cost is the same and there was plenty of room, I will use the next size up XG3600. Since I use this filter on other cars and the lawn tractor, I dont need to worry about different filter PNs either. Capacity bump should help any DIY'er stuck on 0w20 for 10k miles too.
Personally I run synthetic oil 7000 miles(I have had it tested at Blackstone labs and the results show it's still good at that time) before I change it and I change it and the filter(very important) at that time.
Fram is a good filter, just make sure you get the upgraded one for the car. Use good oil change when scheduled and the filter will do it's job nicely.
i had the same issue, when i changed to an OEM oil filter, (not a Fram as the original owner) the problem went away...
ive been using that fram filter since my girl got her '94 2.0 jetta and i thought it was the oil pump about to go... her oil light only goes on when shes driving slow but she'll downshift and once it goes up in rpm's the light goes off...
I have a 94 ABA 2.0L Jetta. Changed the oil and installed a ph2870A filter, took it for a drive and the buzzer would come on. The oil light come on..and at certain point at 4k rpm a 90miles under light load...flat road the light would come on...and then go off..
