I'll echo others that I've always used the Mann HU 925/4x and they've never given me any trouble for fitment or function.
I, along with other owners have tried many oil filters, but the MANN ones seem to be the best.
I've been using Mann filters, have been to last 9 years.
we could just use the **proper OEM standard** Mann oil filter on an *s engine* to avoid filter collapse

Have you considered checking oil pressure regulating valve? In the past I have replaced pretty undamaged filters when I did oil changes. But for the last three years I get crushed filters out of the housing.
I can also attest, Mann filter only. I have no idea why, I believe my first motor seized due to collapsed oil filter
