Oil filter Motorcraft or OEM Toyota
While Ford said you can use 5-20 I know where I live it gets warmer than 86 degrees so in my F150 I run 5-30 or 10/40.
I’ve had no issues with synth and have 255k on it.
Also…I would recommend a Motorcraft filter.
I use motorcraft full synthetic and motorcraft filters.
5000 miles, full synthetic, Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. Do it myself to make sure it's done right. Use the Motorcraft OEM filter.
I'd do oil change as close to leaving as possible with full synthetic oil. Look into oil filter status after that long.
I've changed the oil on my Prius over 30 times and never had an issue with my plastic canister. Use the proper tools and you won't have issues.
Always use a Toyota oil filter.
I still recommend the OEM oil. I have a mechanic that let's me provide my own parts (if I wish) for a job at no cost. When he does my oil changes I provide the Motorcraft Oil and Oil Filter.
When I did the change at home-used the motor craft filter FL190S and mobile 1 full synthetic for $35.00. Biggest pain at home is removing the panel under the chassis.
they're not the best, but they are built exactly to Toyota's specifications. So, while it's possible to have an aftermarket filter not built to Toyota's specifications, an OEM filter is more-or-less guaranteed to operate as intended for your specific car.
Stay away from Motorcraft filters, they are aweful.
