Oil filter Wix or Mobil
Wix XP gave a nice pressure boost...about 10 PSI
Wix xp after watching project farms videos on filters. Historically have used all sorts of filters and never had an engine failure. Use full synthetic and change every 5k miles for twenty five years without any problems.
After watching some tests videos on YouTube, looks like mobile 1 filters had the best filter capabilities. So I’ve been using that for years now.
Been driving STIs reliably for 20 years, and I never use oem.\n\nI use Mobil (M1-110, the longer one), or Wix.
I saw 10 psi more oil pressure across the board from switching to a WIX XP filter. Did this now on all my cars and have the same results. Pretty phenomenal. I used to idle at 20psi like you and now I idle at 30.
If you're going to track it, get wider 200 tread wear tires, swap the brake fluid for motul 600, get some track brake pads, and use 5W30 Pennzoil ultra platinum oil.
What kind of oil filter are you running? My LQ4 was always 40 at idle when warm, about 50 to 60 cruising. I started using AC Delco filters and ended up just under 40 at cruise and 20 hot at idle like you have. Went to a Wix at my next oil change and got the original pressure back. The Delco filter was restricting pressure. No problems since with Wix
What kind of oil filters are you using? Ac delco filters caused similar oil pressure on mine, switched to wix and now it always has like 45psi at hot idle, and around 60 at cold start.
Had a conversation with a WIX rep and was told their best filter is done filtering around the 5000 mile range.
Big pass on WIX filters. I purchased two 57055XP from Rockauto. Both came without the gaskets attached and the wrong baseplate attached at the factory. There is a well-known defect where 20F instead of 20M baseplates were used. Made a warranty claim with MANN+HUMMEL many months ago. Basically, they ignore you or tell you to F.O.
