Shock absorbers Sachs or OEM Volkswagen
These rode very well for smooth roads and could absorb minor shocks very well and handled like a dream. The rears are tuned pretty stiff, but not too bad from the driver's side of things. The passengers wouldn't like it too much, but still it's more stiff than harsh.

For stock, Sachs-Boge is an OEM, decent price and decent product...
I think it is very likely that your low front end is caused by the wrong shocks being installed for the heavy W8 engine.
My mechanic recommended Sachs shocks.
A quick bench test revealed the damping rate of the replacement shocks to feel approximately twice that of the originals, which were way too soft even for daily driving over bad surfaces.
My wife had gone to the dealer because she felt she had no brakes. In addition to the brake job, they also replaced all 4 shocks and 2 front top plates and right and left front ball joints.
Now I have discovered something interesting. I have twice had to remove one of the Sachs shocks because the stop clip came out of the groove in the piston. I figured I must have overtightened the nut on top and pushed it off, so I only finger tightened it the second time. It slipped again. I looked at the clip groove on the Sachs piston and was shocked to see that instead of being square cut like the Bilstein, it was taper cut which obviously stupid. There is no way this clip is going to stay put unless I am able to modify the groove to give it a ledge for the clip to rest on.
