Starter motor Bosch or OEM FORD
I've done my starter once, this was about 12 years ago. I did it with a remanufactured Bosch unit. I haven't heard anything about heat affecting the starters.
Its a pretty simple swap. Everything can be done from above no need to jack the car up, takes maybe 30 minutes to swap.
Get a bosch starter from amazon, any starter you get from a parts store is going to be shit quality. Bosch, or one direct from gm are the only good ones.
I installed the starter, which was apparently the upgrade and Bosch has since reverted back to the "old style" with the support dowel. Everything starting-wise is working great
Stick with Bosch if possible, get the autostick (SR17X) starter and eliminate bushing issues.
I was having the intermittent no start on my 2018 5.0 F150. I’m at roughly 42K miles. Swapped battery, still had the issue. Swapped starter, now starting and remote start back to normal. I feel like a starter should last more than 40K.
It’s shitty material and if the nut holding your signal wire on is at all too tight or a little rusty seized that piece will snap right off.
It's just the shittiest plastic on the starter motor.
They're brittle, they do break
They suck , they break , they are brittle when old its Ford engineers fault !
