Starter motor Denso or OEM Subaru
My buddy has an earlier outback that came with that system. She’s got a lot of miles and honestly it’s totally fine. The one thing is that it does tend to start HARD. It cranks that sucker over like it owes it money
I agree with the other fellow, your OEM starter is goin to be much more robust than what you buy.
If it's OE it is Denso and worth keeping compared to the parts stores garbage.
My experience with a failing starter on a 2nd gen was slow cranking. I initially thought battery, even had the parts store test and tell me the battery was bad (they were wrong). After battery replacement the symptoms remained. Got a reman Denso starter, that fixed it.
I got a Denso reman from Napa and it works fine still.
Get a denso. That is oem starter manufacturer company.
ESPECIALLY with a Honda, go Denso. I had an experience with a failed starter (would only intermittently grab the flywheel) on an '07 Accord where the starter is behind the exhaust manifold. Had a shop replace (they used a Carquest reman) and the issue returned so they replaced again. Off the engine they both tested fine and in spec. Shop refunded the repair as long as I returned the 'faulty' starter so I decided to try but use a reman OEM Denso and it fully worked and has been working flawlessly for years now. It costs a bit more, but worth it - On a Honda at least.
a bit(a lot actually) of internet research got me a denso clone(looks like a hi torq) meant for a kubota tractor.
I'm having a similar issue. Only hear a click when I push the ignition, the starter motor doesn't spin. I replaced the starter with a Denso remanufactured, getting the same problem. I bench tested and verified the remanufactured one spins.
My issues with no crank no start was my starter. it would start intermittently, but then at times just click. I bought a reman denso and swore it wasn't the starter swapped in a new clutch switch. Swapped the starter out for another reman denso. Swapped in a new immobilizer. Kept swearing it wasn't the starter. Just put in 2. Took it to the dealer; of coursr, the RSX ran fine all the times they tried driving it. Finally bought a WAI starter off Amazon. It was the stupid denso. Normally, denso are good. Not so here.
