OEM Honda Steering rack

Original damn near everything apart from steering rack and shocks. I also have had a semi permanent bed in the back since 2021 and travel around Australia sleeping in it so it carries a lot of weight. If you look after them, they will look after you.

Pros: original parts, durable
Cons: steering rack and shocks replaced
Vehicle: Honda Fit
Mileage: 330000 km

OEM Subaru Steering rack

A friend of a buddy of mine has a '12 WRX and he did a 2019 STI rack swap on it - I was able to test drive it for an evening and I love the slightly harder feel and tighter turn.

Pros: slightly harder feel, tighter turn
Vehicle: Subaru

Pros: never had trouble, drives the nicest
Vehicle: Honda Civic

S2000. I love everything about the NSX, the seats and looks especially, but I didn’t like the driving experience. Drove the NA1 NSX a ton and hated the heavy and slow steering rack. It was actually impressive how heavy it was, and required hustling the wheel on the canyons.

Cons: heavy and slow steering
Vehicle: Honda S2000

I have a ‘23 Accord Sport L and I hate it. I mean it’s nice and all, but everything is just so bleh. No soul, it is an appliance. With that said I’ve done 55k miles in about a year and half with no issues. Steering rack or bushings just started making some noise I gotta bring it in. I hear steering racks are an issue on them.

Pros: no issues, nice car
Cons: steering rack noise
Vehicle: Honda Accord
Mileage: 88513 km

I drive a 2015 Honda City and had the steering rack replaced about 2 months at an authorized Honda service center. It was making noise and had excessive play. Now, barely 1000km later, the same *issue* is back. The noise is there and just as loud as before.

Cons: noise, excessive play
Vehicle: Honda City
Mileage: 1000 km

I just got the sticky steering recall done.... only because they can void your registration given its a safety recall.... but now im upset because it was completely fine, and NOW its no longer tight when i put it into sport mode, now the sport steering feels like normal steering.... idk what the exact deal is here, but i do wish i could revert or gain that spring back i think they repalced because id like to have that back because it was 100% fine and normal in normal mode, only tighter in sport mode which i expected and loved

Cons: lost sport steering tightness, steering feels normal
Vehicle: Honda Civic
