Strut assembly KYB or Bilstein
I put h&r sport springs with standard Bilstein struts on my touring a few months ago
Sits mabye a hair lower than a stock non-xi car
Should be a pic in my history if you want to take a look
H&r springs, Bilstein struts & shocks
That’s what I have on my 325xi
KYB Struts are a goos choice but it wount be that cheap, altho its really worth it.
Just bought some KYB quick struts from Rock Auto and they are spectacular. Insanely easy install as well.
I used KYB. They are the OEM supplier now since Tokico is not around. I bought mine through Rockauto. They frequently have rebates. I didn't buy the complete strut assemblies. I just bought the struts and purchased OEM springs seats, bearings, bellows etc.
Get bilstein struts. Suples springs. Lemforder bushings. Lemforder tie rods and ball joints.
The short answer is that Bilsteins are good for street class, if they are in stock.
Be careful if you buy rebuilt Phaeton struts. I haven't found any that mention rebuilding the dampers (shocks). They check them and repaint them and put new air bags on them. You can buy new air bags and swap them yourself for less money.
I bought KYB struts and a year later the boot was ripped wide open and the strut is exposed.
Bilsteins suck on the E30 platform. I bought my car with them and the ride quality was trash.
