Strut assembly KYB or Sachs
Almost forgot Sachs, if you have a euro car they are also a great choice.
I have an 06’ legacy. Bought the kyb quick struts and haven’t had any problems - ride seems to be comparable to the original ride quality.
KYB is the OE for the base level 4Runner so I would say they’re probably a good option. I’ve never heard anybody say anything good about Monroe in recent years or their subsidiary, Rancho.
The best results i have had was using the OEM strut mount and installed kyb struts in it.
For struts I replaced with KYB, no easy to find, but they worked. I had to purchase throfor the 03-04 S models, though mine is an 02 S model. Everything for me bolted on just fine and have been running them for about 8k miles.
Just installed some KYB and happy with it.
I've used various manufacturers. KYB have always been good. I only use them now
Ride height went up by 2” on the new struts, I’m not surprised the KYB equipment looks like it’s sitting taller.
Bought new struts from kyb, one was really stuff and looked new the other one was not as stiff and had a lot of dust on it meaning it could have been sitting for a while, is possible the less stuff one is damaged and I have to return it or is it normal for there to be a little bit of variance between the sides. I was pumping them manually as I know you have too and that's when I noticed the difference..
I bought Sachs once and don't know if I was unlucky, but they seemed underfilled. Hit repetitive bumps and they would immediately fade. Tires would bounce like basketballs. I could hear the oil frothing in them.
