Strut assembly Monroe or Bilstein
It took me only 3 hours to replace and assembly all the parts back to my Prius. Really enjoys on the performance because my old struts almost did not work at all and it's shocking a lot when driving through a tough road. I've also do some research and Monroe should be better for a American car rather than a Japan one like Prius, and KYB perform smooth and better in case of specific Prius and Toyota cars.
Bilstein B4/B6 struts are designed for stock springs and really drive the performance upmarket. Last, buy new stock endlinks and get a 22mm solid rear sway bar. You can do all that for <$2K and the car will drive like a 50-60K performance car until 200K miles with no notable maintenance increases.
I run bikstein b8 struts with eibach sportline springs. Definitely feels like it hugs the road a little better, less bouncy, and just feels better overall. I didn’t really notice a drop in suspension compared to when I just had the springs on. I’d say worth it if you’re not going to use the adjustability of coils.
I don't trust brands like Monroe or Duralast, so I was going to order some Bilstein B4s ($65.00 each) and re-use my old springs.
Consensus on OE replacement, same ride height is OE or Bilstein B4s, about 10% stiffer. Alltrack specific B6 came out, finally, in front struts about 8 months ago, but are sold out
I put h&r sport springs with standard Bilstein struts on my touring a few months ago
Sits mabye a hair lower than a stock non-xi car
Should be a pic in my history if you want to take a look
H&r springs, Bilstein struts & shocks
That’s what I have on my 325xi
Before and after installing Bilstein B8 struts and shocks, and VWR springs.
So, for those out there interested in that suspension setup I will say- do not do it. The two together create far too much spring compression and effectively nullify any useful articulation of the suspension. My camber was all sorts of screwy, and if I hit a pot hole or bump in the road, it sounded like the front struts were trying to blast through my hood.
I’ve had enough bad experiences with Monroe that I won’t use them on any vehicle.
