Thermostat OEM BMW or MotoRad
Thermostat is broken or someone changed non-original thermostat.
Those do not work.
Only working (which is also oem) spare part is Motorad Cold climate zone thermostat 5461-82K.
Other does not work. Tested 10+ thermostat on here skandinavia.
I recently moved on from a 2016 X3 35i (N55) with a little over 100k miles on it. The only things to break on it were the thermostat and a control board for one of the headlight modules. When I replaced the thermostat I did the water pump as a precaution.
My 535i with the 740d thermostat sits at 90-95 during normal use, even sat stable at 95c during 40c weather in traffic. When beating on it in the mountains got it up to 99 at like 28c ambient.
I have this exact engine and installed a diesel thermostat. Previously, with the standard thermostat, the plastic timing chain guides would start to disintegrate after three years, but now I have no problem with that. The engine temperature is around 96°C.
motorad from rockauto is doing me good so far
I had a lot of trouble this summer myself with a bad thermostat. I found a stant super stat that used to be one of the best that they don\u2019t make any anymore, but it caused me some trouble.,I had no choice I went with a motorad 195, seems to be all right It\u2019s been about four months now.
If your thermostat is from Nappa and says Motorad on it. Then replace it immediately. They are junk and stick closed.
I bought from FCP euro one of the OE water thermostat and water pump. The thermostat sticks open since new so I get check engine light on my M54 engine.
I noticed mine is a "motorad" and it's the cheapest shittiest one and it's been giving me problems.
I had the same issues, less than 4 moths, this brand doesn't work.
