Tires DUNLOP or Nokia
Nokian Hakka R3s is my preference. They’re pretty sporty, so the car drive much like it does on the summer tires instead of the splashy feeling I’ve had from other snows.
Agreed, the Nokian hakkapalitas are exceptional winter tires. But, the Michelin X-ICE snow tires, I have heard good things (from friends, first hand).
I can't complain about the Nokian Entyre C/S, quiet, grippy, and fuel efficient.
Both have with equal and even wear Tread depth a heavy 5/32” No plugs or bubbles If I could have found a used pair of these, I wouldn’t be selling this pair.
I really like my studdless tires. So much better with them. As long as. The ground isn't slushy lose shit, it feels very much like regular clean road driving
Yes, get 16" Tig OEM steelies and hub covers, and have your VW dealer put on Nokian Hakkapellitas or Rotivas, that you can order on Tire Rack to ship free to the dealer or your local shop. Dont wait too long as these are the best winters you can buy
Nokian WR G4's are low rolling resistance, and does well in the snow/packed snow/ice until the snowflake disappears, and doesn't affect gas mpg.
I have been running snows for over 30 years and the only ones I have ever had that are the quietest, are the Nokian Rotiiva AT. Not perfect, but leaps and bounds better than everything else I have run.
Had a set on my Volvo. They were good in the winter, but only okay in the summer, and they met an early demise on a gravel road in the Sangres
Stock Dunlops are garbage. I barely got 17kish out of mine and they were at 3/32".
