Tires DUNLOP or SUMITOMO
Sumitomo Encounter ATs are hands down the best bang for the buck.
I got 77500 miles on my Dunlops before changing to Defenders 2. Defenders 2 feel much better.
The 999 rear does skid out much easier then the Dunlop American elite, however I like to skid so that is a pro for me. I ran thru 2 Dunlop elites quite quickly. For the record I did like the Dunlop AE, just didn’t like replacing it every season
I had the first set of Dunlops till about 12k miles when the dealership stole one of my wheels during a rotation and put someone's busted wheel and tire with 1/8th less tread on it on my car. After some threats of legal action I got a new wheel and 4 new Dunlops, which lasted roughly 20k miles, mostly commuting.
For $70 I can buy Japanese made Sumitomos which have perfectly adequate grip in most conditions and long life, but they are quite loud due to the aggressive tread.
Absolute garbage in winter here in central new york. Need one say more. Summer tire in warm wet conditions are satisfactory. Cold dry conditions they have a slight slippery feel and if there's any cold wet conditions like below 50 they tend to move the car around.
Having worked at a Porsche dealership I’ve seen Dunlops wear out ridiculously fast. I’d be looking at a comparable Michelin or Conti to replace it with.
I have a pair of Dunlop Wintermaxx’s and they seemed like great tires, very gripping with dry roads. However, when it rains or is wet, they seem to absolutely suck. I start skidding/sliding even on simple turns at low speeds, even in a round a bout.
