Tires Falken or Maxxis
I ran the RE71R's last year. I'm running the Falken Rt660's now. Its a very good tire that's on par with the Bridgestone. I'd say check that one out.
I’m guessing he is referring to the falken rt660. I use them on my fiesta st and am actually going to order another set next week. Pretty good tires for the price, great dry performance but wet performance is not great.
The best blend of traction and longevity I've ridden so far is Maxxis Minions in the 60 compound. They held up to multiple days in Whistler Bike Park and were still in fine shape.
I went a different direction and fit bigger tires on stock suspension. Looks like they are about 1" bigger in diameter and a little narrower. It was real tight in there so I wouldn't have gone any bigger than the 215/65/16s I ended up with (Falken Wildpeak AT, late model Audi rims) on factory setup.
The tires are very nice; comfortable and quiet, very good in all the conditions the Northeast brings.
I just put on my 285 75 16 maxxis at811s a few days ago. Road noise is almost none, you would have to turn the speakers off and listen for it. Load rating E so stiffness is definitely a given. Braking is definitely harder because of the weight.
Pulled the trigger on the Falken WILDPEAK A/T 255/55R19 much beefier tires. No way the Ms. can curb rash the rims now.
Gotta say, I've been a big fan of my maxxis tires. Super solid tire for a brand that isn't exactly a household name (I wouldn't call them offbrand, just not a big name).
We found them nice for around 5,000mi of spirited driving. They gave good reliable feedback in corners but didn't perform well in wet. I had separation on rear tread twice.
Falken Ziex 512s ( I don't think they are available anymore) are the most trash tires I've had. Terrible grip, terrible life.
