Tires Goodyear or LANDSAIL
We had Goodyear Assurance TripleTreds on our Outback - outstanding traction in rain and snow/slush.
Goodyear Eagle GT, 235/40-18 Rides rough, not too bad noise wise, handles great on dry and wet. Gives good feedback and confidence in corners. I've got about 19k miles on them now, they still have about 30 to 40% tread left. I'm an aggressive driver.
I'm running the same tires I always have -- the ones that came stock on the car -- goodyear eagle F1s -- that I have loved forever and never had problems with...
Better tires like my Goodyear Eagle Gts have features like side walls to protect my rims from curb rash.
These tires are AMAZING! I still run a set on my R32.
I run 225/60/16 Goodyear Ultragrip Ice tires, and I have to say that the Eurovan is extremely capable in heavy snow with these tires.
I got two Goodyear Allegra FuelMax tires for the front of my Jetta before driving to Vancouver and they handled superbly in the rain we encountered every day on the road! I like to drive enthusiastically and they kept up just fine.
I have the GoodYear FuelMax on my Volt. Not the worst tires I've ever had, but not great. Very quick to break loose on a highway ramp.
I have Eagle F1's on my 986 and am totally underwhelmed.
Reviews for that tire at TireRack aren't exactly stellar. Great tire in the rain, in fact VERY high traction in wet conditions. Almost to the point that it's a technological marvel. But...it gives up so much in the dry that it feels like a sloppy truck truck tire with 10psi. It corners terribly in the dry, the steering response is horrible and wanders all over the road.
