Tires Kumho or Nokia
Nokian Hakapelita q's My vw dealership here in wpg was able to source them for $122 a tyre The fin's have lot's of ice roads. Nokain's are great ice tyres. In wpg there is alot of ice.
205/55R16. outstanding winter performance.
I use Nokian Hakkapeliitta 1's on my Jetta.
Just put some nokian hakka q's on the gf's golf.
We've got a FWD model Passat, and we use Nokian Hakkapeliitas in the winter We went out on closed (snowed out) roads in southern Oregon We were passing snow plows and SUVs left and right Not even a bit of wheelspin, it was just like being on dry ground, only quieter 4motion is probably worth it in the northeast
Kumhos are awesome! I had them on my civic and Ive hit at least 160 in that car! They are very comfortable and they handle very well.
Just in case any one is looking at four season tires look at the hakka NRW. Very similar to the hakka Q in tread design but a harder rubber.
As for the Kuhmo 712 it is a great, cheap tire for dry and rain conditions but in the bigger sizes that I have experience with (i.e. 225/45ZR17) they stunk in the snow.
I got my first kumho after having goodyear euro t/a's (which bl*w) OMG was I impressed with Kumhos
i have kuhmo supras(195 45 16) and they suck for traction. SUCK I had dunlop w10's, they were ok, but lasted like 15k miles. thats my input
