Tires MICHELIN or Cooper
Replaced the OEM Hankooks with Michelin Premier A/S; much improved wet and dry traction and far less road noise. The Hankooks were crap.
I have had two sets of Michelin Premier A/S on my Passats and I swear by them. They wear extremely well and perform excellent on wet and snow/ice. On both sets, I've gotten well past the tread wear rating.
I'd use Michelin PSS for summer, A/S 3 all-seasons otherwise, so they wouldn't look too mismatched.
ive got those same coopers on my geo and they seem to do well. but they are clearly an AT tire.
Just put Michelin Premier A/S on my '14. So far so good, $70 off too. They were available at almost every tire store I checked and have a 60k warrant. Car feels tight again.
Exactly what I run on my R. Works perfectly, looks good.
I am running 235/40 R18 Michelin PSS with Neuspeed RSe 10s 18x8.5 for my summers. I am also lowered on Bilstein coils with no fitment problems.
And actually I never posted it, but I made a new top cover for the radiator. It was the first thing I did to the car. I made it out of aluminum sheet. It's amazing what a difference it made to the running temp of the car.
The X-Ices are the best on your list, especially with the discount.
Recommend a switch to "Cooper CS5 Ultra Touring" tires. I have a 2011 Tiguan SE. Replaced my stock 17-inch Continentals after 7,500 miles because they were too noisy and I had 2 flats within a month. Did considerable research on all-weather tires before I settled on the Cooper CS5 . . a new unique tread design and rubber compounds. There was a 100% improvement in my SUV's handling, as well as a soft, quiet ride. Now have 54k on this SUV, and my W-rated tires remain almost like new.
