Tires MICHELIN or Nokia
Michellin. X and my 2015 Jetta I have 0 issues driving in snow ice condition. The feedback from the car give me the feeling of the road and makes me anticipate my Next Movement
My 2021 GLI drives great with Hakkapelitas
I live in buffalo area we just were hit with 2 feet of snow the past two days. I put dedicated 20inch wheels and Michelin x ice tires on it instead of the 22” stock wheels and Michelin all seasons. It’s the most planted feeling I’ve had in a vehicle in the winter. I love how well the defrost works too. I’m start a new post tho for what is the most overkill windshields wipers available for the ix. I need them.
I put on a set of Michelin x-ice and went down to 20” rims from the stock 21’s. Handles great, very little sliding, good grip and I was surprised how quiet the tires are for full snows.
I just installed Nokian Hakkapeliitta 10 studded winter tires 275/45R21 on the OEM 21x9" rim just in time for the big storm. We got 16" of snow yesterday. It did great in deep snow and ice, going up hills no problem. This is my first winter with the iX and I was hoping the stock Goodyear Eagle Touring would be sufficient in light snow, but I wouldn't recommend driving it unless the roads are perfectly cleared. It was difficult driving on the Goodyear Eagle Touring tires even with just an inch of snow before the roads were cleared, which is what prompted me to install winter tires mid-winter. If you live in an area that gets snow or ice in the winter, it could be worth getting a winter set. Having two sets of tires will also reduce the mileage on your summer set, allowing them to last longer. I don't think it's possible for the stock tires to last the entire 3 year duration of the lease. Based on current wear and other reviews, I expect the Goodyears to last maybe 15,000 miles.
I have these from January 2023 with 40,000 miles and they look almost new.
Idk but the CC2 on my van lasted for 70k miles which was insane
Running Nokian Hakkapelitta LT3 and MSW Type 52 (Black) on my R1T right now!
After running these tires for 50k miles and to their untimely demise, I didn’t think they were particularly special. I don’t think they handled very sharp, they don’t seem super “sticky”, and tread life is pretty average. Even in snow I don’t feel like they’re that much better than an average all season.
They're not good in the dry and wet in my experiance. I came from Pilot Sport AS4 and when pushing my car on highway entrance ramps the CC2 always will trigger traction control whereas the AS4 never did.
