Tires MICHELIN or OEM Audi
If you insist on All season go with Michelin Cross climate tires.. idk how those pass as all season but they surely are miles better than any other all season in the winter.
I’m blazing through most all snowy conditions with AWD and crossclimate 2 tires which are snow rated but also a great all season tire.
I run Michelin CrossClimate 2 and have been happy with them, in northern Indiana. My son put a set on his 2IS and he’s also a fan.
This is why I always buy the best possible tires for any car I own. Unfortunately that really hurt last week when I spent $2500 on a new set of tires (Michelin Pilot Sport S 5).
About 30-40k miles. I just changed to Michelin LTX M/s for a second round the first set got me 85K miles. I’m hoping these ones last the same amount of miles.
I second the Cross Climates. I have them on my NX and they’re the best tires I’ve ever had.
I swap wheels/tires twice a year running summers on the stock wheels and winter Michelin snow/ice on 17 basic black wheels. Car handles snow in New England like a dream.
Alpin 5s are awesome. Never an issue in as much as 4-6" of snow.
I had the CC2’s on my Explorer, to replace the OEM tires. They handle great, and are excellent in the snow, but they were very loud, and got louder as they wore, I also noticed a significant reduction in gas mileage, 15-20% depending on season. I eventually swapped them for what is essentially the Pirelli version of the same tire. They are called the Scorpion WeatherActive and were far and away better than the Michelins on my vehicle. Gas mileage went back to normal and they were much quieter.
I won’t buy X-Ice anymore, both myself and my friend had a sidewall blow out on them.
