Tires OEM Chevrolet or GENERAL TIRE
I've had General GMAX AS 05's, Continental ECS AS and currently running Michelin PS4 AS. I live in NY, in a small apartment no garage, ND is my daily so I run one set of tires.
The General tires is a sub brand of Continental, they were cheaper than the ECS but honestly were great, I had these after the Continentals and I'd get the Generals over the ECS if on a budget.
General Altimax Arctic 12 are 97% as good as Blizzak for about 75% of the price.
My wife's Audi has unstoppable General Altimax Artic claw studded. Also a great tire and less expensive than hakkas or Michelin.
General Grabber ATx. I use em on my daily, ZERO complaints. Done a good job on mid, sand, and on icy Missouri roads.
Sounds great. Make sure the tires are not more than 6 years old.
I have a Chevy Cruze as my winter beater (with winter tires) and it\u2019s does awesome. Got me home in a blizzard last year where the highways had about 8 inches of snow on them.
I\u2019ve always had very good luck with a General Altimax RT45 long lasting quiet, good tire and a good price. Currently using the General AW 365 been very good in the snow so far. I have a 2016 Kia forte LX.
For a Volt on hilly snowy roads, the best “cheap but actually works” winter tire I’ve used is the General Altimax Arctic 12. It’s one of the few budget winter tires that still digs in on steep climbs and icy starts, and it wears slower than most entry-level options.
Having gone from a WRX to a Chevy bolt, it is a very different experience. The WRX was a thousand times more fun. The turbo constantly begged you to go faster. It cornered flat and came with super sticky tires so you could go around a corner at a crazy speed. The bolt has solid straight line acceleration, but low rolling resistance tires make it much less fun, and slower in a lap around a track.
This probably won't be an issue for a 2018, but the spec tires that it comes with don't have good traction and provide a rougher ride.
