My old '94 Blazer, shod in her Pirelli Scorpions, wrap around rock bars, Vortec V-6. Unstoppable.
I use the p3's, good tire it just has a lot of road noise and not amazing in the rain
Switched to Pirelli Rosso 4 and the problem went away almost entirely.
i once rode my 40mm P Zero Race TLR on gravel all day on 15 psi and no puncture. built like a tank.
For the last few years there's been a lot of front left punctures, so they've capped the tyre stints at 25 laps on safety grounds.
But what about other maintenance costs, such as brakes and tires? Obviously EVs don’t have fluid changes. But don’t the tires cost more and wear out quicker on the Tesla due to the extra weight and power?
Both sets of Pirellis I've had on my trucks were absolute shit after 10-15k miles.
I needed new tires *ridiculously* fast, as the OEM set's treads wore out at an absurd rate. I honestly think I had a bad set, because even the tire guys who replaced them were shocked at how bad, and *inconsistent*, the wear was on 1-year-old tires. I got a 40% discount on them due to the warranty, but they were still $700.
if you have R1S with original pirellis tires over 10/15k miles - getting new tires will make a HUGE difference in ride quality - this is the consensus in the forums - the factory tires don't last and it makes rivian ride rough and loud sooner than most of us are used to.
