Tires Toyo or Falken
Good luck with yours. I've driven more on mine, and after adjusting my suspension, I am loving them. Good traction at any temperature.
My traction problems are going to occur no matter what street tires I have for sure, but any little bit will help. FWD and over 400hp don't go too well together as far as lower gear traction is concerned. I'll def look into the rt-615s though. Edit: I just ordered 2 to try out. I'll report back
I just had two RT-615's sized 225/45/17 put on the front of my GTI. Now, with that said, these tires are amazing. I haven't even put 100 miles on them yet and they already grip like crazy. I have minimal wheel spin at 22psi through first, and little to none in second gear. With my Yokohama AVS ES100's I would have full spin through first and second unless they were REALLY hot. These tires provide better grip than those even when they are cold.
so far i think it is the toyo. the more tread on the ground the more grip
yes, they're T1r's. Only tires I could find in 195/45/14 and I had to order them from California, drive 100+ Kilometres to Buffalo, and take them back to Canada, but it'll be worth it
In my opinion the ride quality/comfort did not change when I switched to this 19" setup compared to the stock 18" Aristos. If anything I think the tires are a little more compliant and comfortable than the Michelins. The Toyo Proxes 4 offer superb handling in the dry and wet, and decent performance in the snow. They are great all season performance tires that have a long tread life.
ordered my tires today from onlinetires.com 4 toyo proxes t-1r 215-45-15 under 400 bucks shiped
To answer the origional question as far as low profile tires. Toyo T1s get them from edge racing that is the cheapest place I checked around and this is wher e I gotr mine for my panasports
I have had the proxes 4 on my 24v 2.8l for 12k miles now. Wear has been ok, would have been better if I had bought a seperate set of wheels/tires for autocross. I have not driven them in the snow yet so no idea how they will do. They do handle rain pretty well, and overall Im happy.
Same as driving the F1's in the snow. Maybe even a bit worse. Don't even think about it.
