Tires YOKOHAMA or Continental
Replaced them with a set of Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02s and I’ve been happy so far.
I have Yokohama geolanders with the semi-aggressive tread. Set at 36 psi, and I get about 20 mpg backroads and highway. Lower the psi and hit the trails if I need. Plus I like the white lettering....
Yokohama Geolanders have always been my go-to. From a 92 Chevy to an 01 Ford, when I need to replace my stock tires, that's what I plan. Great long life, an amazing grip, and can handle some dirt and light mud.
PS4S is the high water mark for Max performance summers for a long time. Competition has caught up. So much so I run the continental ECS02 since it’s a better deal, last longer and has nicer ride.
Ad09 is a fantastic tire for your use case, I used to run nankang ar1, now I run ado9 and it's a great tire.
Get some conti dws. Great tires.
For straight time-attack speed it's either the Yokohama A052 (for 1 lap) or the new RE71RS (for several laps).
NorCal Chassis Works in Fairfield is an excellent local shop that I have patronized in the past, and happens to be a TireRack recommended installer. I ordered 4 Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02 in 225/40/18 and had them delivered to the shop.
Continental tires are popular because they're cheaper than Michelin and Pirelli tires. Contis also last longer.
Wrangles sucked. The Yokohama was a nice tire but did not last.
