Tires YOKOHAMA or Uniroyal
I've found Yokohama AD08R's were pretty good on my track car, like you I drive to trackdays and these seemed very good in the dry but also good enough on the road on a damp day!
If longevity is more important than top performance, then I highly recommend Yokohama Ascends. We have almost 200k on our CC and mostly used Conti's with some others along the way. These Yokohamas are awesome and wear ridiculously well! We are in FL so lots of rain in the summer.
So the tires are beyond a success, better than I hoped. Twice I've taken the spot I referred to in another post (about the stock Kynergy's) where I turn right at a Stop and go up a slight grade and with any foot on the gas the car breaks away. In these tires, has not happened, even when I have tried to push it. And that AWD sensation continues to be active. I felt it twice this morning: I make a turn, the front end responds, and then the back just snap! (s) right into line. The car is so much more solid through turns than it was, and I would say it is in no way inferior to my old Juke!
I just picked up a set of Yokohama Avids from Tire Rack mounted to Sparco Terras. Look great, quiet tires with excellent light snow traction.
Success! Staggered with Yokohama Advan Sport A/S on the front, Achilles ATR Sport on the back. Fr: 245/45R18 Rr: 275/40R18\u200b Looks great, no fitment/backspace issues, runs great. Can definitely feel a much tighter back end on turns. On some new black top on 422, did some hard insane lane changes at 75 mph and the back end just snapped into place. Funny how theory actually works out. And, of course, the Yokohama's provide much more glue than the Hankook Kynergys. Feels noticably more solid on the road.
I'm going with 245/45R18s in the front, and 275/40R18s in the back (a poor man's AWD hack). The 245s are going to be Yokohama Advan Sport A/S . I found multiple solid reviews, and the AS[SUP]2[/SUP] (s) are supposedly comparable to the holy PilotSports. Great traction, with sidewall technology for quieting. In theory, these should feel like glue compared to the Kinergy GTs.
Yokohama avid ascend GTs. Get them on tire rack and have a trusted local shop instal them. I had Michelin pilot sports on my mk6 from Costco and these are better and cheaper. They’re also fantastic in the rain.
I am using Uniroyal MS Plus 77, in size 255/40/19, last winter they were good, no slips, good braking on wet and mood, will see this year how they will be.
I’ve been running a set of Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 in factory dimensions year round on my 3.6. They perform pretty damn well in the snow, great in the rain, awesome off road, and they’re quiet.
I whole-heartedly un endorse the Yokohama YK580 that Discount Tire sells exclusively. As I said earlier in the thread 2.5 years ago, I put them on both my vehicles and I loved them at first. They drove great and were quiet. But I got nowhere near the 60k warranty on our Passat or Rout. Only got about 30k on the Rout.
