Water pump AISIN or OEM Volkswagen
Water pump and timing belt done with OEM Aisin kit (March 2024)
Just replaced my water pump and thermostat on my 2015. Aisin pump, which is oem was $150 on amazon. $40 for the thermostat. Super easy to replace yourself. Especially if they want $4000 to do it.

Water pump you will want to raise the engine to gain access to the water pump. I suggest you use a metal impeller replacement and not a plastic one like the factory original.
You'll need to keep an eye on the coolant bottle level, the water pump has been known to leak and need replacement.
2 water pumps (both under warranty) 3rd one it's on..so far so good. Those repairs cost me nothing.
The water pumps are plastic. Heat and plastic don’t go well together. My MK6 has had at least 3 water pumps and sitting at 120k.
My 2012 GTI has 175,000 Kms and is on Water pump #4.
Water pump has been replaced 5 times. Twice under warranty. Had I been smart I would’ve gone with an aftermarket metal pump.
Mine has also always had constant problems, I’ve spent so much money just replacing the water pump as well. I’ve also considered selling mine, because the cost of maintenance outweighs the fun of the car…
