Windshield OEM Audi or OEM Hyundai
The Ioniq 5's windshield is pretty tough.
I had to replace on my RS3 and the windshield came from Germany straight from Audi. No issues and everything fine.
The windshield on our 21 Q5e cracked from a stone chip. Took it to Safelite down the road from our house. Insurance covered 100% and that included calibration. Everything works as it should--that was 6 months or so ago. Used oem glass.
I took my car 5N to Safelite and they did a phenomenally good job. Because the car is so new, there are no 3rd party replacements available, such as PPG. So I have a OEM Hyundai windshield as a replacement. All calibrations were done perfectly, and the job took only a few hours. This isn't an ad for Safelite, just truthfully sharing my experience.
At first they put a non-OEM windshield, couldnt calibrate the camera behind the review mirror, went back a week later and got OEM. No issues for me.
my 2018 S5 slammed on the brakes randomly a few times, and I have the original windshield.
The new Hyundai windshields are kinda terrible and crack very easily from what I have seen and heard, so honestly you would probably be better off going aftermarket anyways
I have a 2018 Elantra GT sport and just had my windshield replaced due to a crack. The installer basically told me the same about my windshield. The windshield wasn't sealed to the car on the driver's side. It seems only the passenger half was sealed properly. I'm going to report this to Hyundai Canada as this is a potential safety hazard for anyone who gets into an accident or it could lead to water leak issues doen the road.
The windshield has already given out on me. It appears as if a rock chip turned into a crack almost instantly and I’m concerned if this is a common occurrence because I saw some others mentioning it. I’m out $800-900 for the repair and another month or two waiting on the windshield as it is on back order. I haven’t seen a windshield crack this easy and I’m scared it will happen again. The car is so new there is no aftermarket options for the windshield so you are forced to go with the OEM option.
Definitely the weakest windshield ive had. I have had the car since Sept and already have like 5 or 6 knicks in windshield and NOTHING on the paint or bumper.
