Windshield OEM BMW or Pilkington
340 for a Pilkington windshield. ADAS was $180 on a 2019 Pilot EX-L. Works fine.
We have replaced the windshields in both the Tacoma and Highlander with Safelite 'Pilkington' OE equivalent glass. All safety features work just as expected.
I used Safelite for a windshield replacement on my 2016 340i last year and they did a perfect job. They used the same glass manufacturer as BMW - Pilkington. BMW doesn't make glass. HUD and rain sensor were perfectly calibrated. No issues whatsoever.
I like Pilkington so much more than Fuyao. I requested Pilkington last time I got my windshield replaced.
I called a local 3rd party shop and had them order the glass from BMW and then they installed in when it arrived from Germany about 2 weeks later. Saved me about $1500 vs. BMW of Austin asking $3200 installed (HUD, Driver Assist Camera, etc) including recalibration. Was ~$1700 all-in for OE glass and recal of the driver aides and HUD. Could have gotten it about $600 cheaper with 3rd party glass, but have heard horror stories about how cheap glass can mess up visibility of the HUD so stuck with OE BMW glass.
Pilkinton/AGC are mighty fine.
My relative works for AGC (a direct competitor) and calls the glass “very good”. Moreover, I have it on my Corolla and I see no difference to the OEM. Actually, I’d argue much better than the EU original Sisecam.
I would definitely avoid Fuyao.
I just got my Impreza windshield replaced with Pilkington after seeing comments in various Subaru subs. The glass is just okay, it has a weird but minor horizontal wavy spot and no idea if it’ll actually be more durable in the long run. It did calibrate fine and EyeSight seems to be working without issue.
Safelight used a cheap crap grade of pilkington - they said it was OEM, it was not and cracked the first week from a small rock.
my 2021 CR-V just got its windshield cracked like this for some reasons, and it's also from Pilkington
I've had 2 Pilkington windshields installed. Both have distortion at around eye level. Similar to the sensation of having a bifocal lens.
