Windshield OEM FORD or OEM KIA
36k miles and just a small chip that I got in a gnarly hail storm in Nebraska while driving cross country. That was when it was brand new. No issues with it since. Was waiting for it to get worse before I took it in for the windshield recall but it never worsened.
3 years 65k miles and a lot of off-roading and high speed road trips. A few chips, no cracks, same factory windshield.
Mine is still holding on well after almost a year and a half despite several roadtrips on I-80 and a particularly terrible drive to Fargo where a couple of gigantic semis were on the opposite end of a milled one-lane road and flung a bunch of stuff on to my windshield.
Over 3 years.. and 50k miles. Original windshield with a couple chips.
I have a 2023 Sportage SX and got a rock chip within the first month of owning it. Just got another one last month. Both while driving on the interstate. My husband was driving for the second one and didn't even know a rock had hit it, that's how small the rock had to have been. I had 3 Mazda 3's before this and never had any rock chips during those 7 years driving the same roads. I definitely think its the windshield.
I purchased a certified pre-owned 18 Optima in 2020, and maybe months later, a little crack started out of nowhere right at the start of the top of the windshield. Over time, it spread all the way to the bottom in two different directions.
Had ours crack in the same week and those Kia windshields are not cheap
My 23 Sportage windshield cracked from the tiniest pebble hitting it. The pebble sound was barely audible. Meanwhile boulders have rained on my 2016 Flex and it’s never left a mark, let alone a crack. The windshield quality on Kia’s are crap.
Mines cracked on me within 6 months.... rock smacked it from a stupid truck with after market tires... Not even 24hrs later, whole line through the windshield. One time some large construction vehicle on the opposite side of the road fling something at my shield. It was really weird, my lady was with me, and she was also confused how it happened. it left a scratch on the glass, thankfully it never turned into nothing more.
This is the 3rd time I’m going to have to replace my windshield this year because you even look at it the wrong way and the glass cracks. Not really, but you’d think the top of the line trim would have glass that is more durable. Never had this issue with any other car I’ve had.
