Windshield OEM Volkswagen or CARGLASS
Safelite put an OEM VW branded windshield in a year ago. No issues so far
I had never replaced a winshield in over 20 years of driving until I got my 2018 MK7.5 Golf Alltrack. Rock, crack, new winshield.
Getting a windshield replacement (it's a *$^% rabbit hole getting the right glass/frit from the aftermarket but that's another story) and thought I'd drop this here for interest people. The rubber strip at the top comes attached to the replacement windshield, the part number is VW 370 5G0 845 132
I personally got my windshield replaced for my 20 Jetta at West Houston VW. They charged me $1400 upfront. However, after filing a claim with Geico, they reimbursed me up to $920. So essentially i paid $480 for OEM Glass installed and calibrated. IMO that is way better than going through safelite
Still getting the runaround on trying to find a replacement. In my experience, the VW's windshields tend to chip & crack so easily. the aftermarket lasts so much longer.
I just had my windshield replaced; I've noticed a slight visual ripple at the base of the windshield on the passenger side. Since it's right at the base it's not something that causes any weirdness while driving. I can't say I even noticed anything with the previous windshield.
we just had to replace the windshield a couple months ago thanks to a small rock getting kicked up.
Yesterday I caught a rock and cracked my windshield. Less than 1k miles
Got two chips on windshield within first week of driving. Never had any with previous car.
replaced one twice
