Pilkington Windshield

I have a few Corrado windshields I’m looking to unload. I imported them from Europe, they are Pilkington and I have them listed at $750US or $1000CAN.

Pros: imported from Europe
Vehicle: Volkswagen Corrado

for Hondas and Acuras that need recalibration with the ADAS camera systems, It’s best to use PILKINGTON. It seems to have a lower Failure rate.

Pros: lower failure rate
Vehicle: Acura

There are differences, as you found, in the manufacturer, but VW uses different glass manufacturers in different parts of the world. I, myself, have the roof, front & rear windshield made by Pilkington, and the side windows are from Saint Gobain.

Pilkington glass has never let me down, except their distribution centers. A bit of the best and the worst bundled into one name.

Pros: never let down, best quality
Cons: distribution centers issues

OEM FORD Windshield

A poorly placed windshield sealant line on my 2020 F-150 led to water leaks in the bottom passenger side corner, dripping onto the BCM. My windshield guy found the sealant bead run right over the corner, a factory kludge, causing BCM issues.

Cons: poor sealant placement, water leaks, BCM issues, factory defect
Vehicle: Ford

I bought mine with an aftermarket replacement pilkington glass already installed - not sure for how long. So it's been on their at least 7 years now and the quality has degraded more than any other car I've had. There are no cracks or major dings but it just has microscopic pitting all over that glares in the right light. I can clean and claybar it to perfection and it's still not great.

Cons: quality degraded, microscopic pitting, glares in light
