just replaced one and aside from slight issues with the drain plug alignment that needed some finessing, seemed fine and held pressure.
Reviews of spare parts for BMW
I run the prestone green coolant in my e36 since 2006 and my 540i/6 since 2008. They're both fine. The old engine still looked & ran great. The radiator in my 540i was still from 1998 until very recently when I did a cooling system refresh - entirely preventive.
Prestone teal colored euro coolant has never failed me.
I have Akebono on my 330 and TRW Ultra TXC1171 on my 328, I have to say the TRWs have excellent bite and the brake dust is minimal as well.
If you DIY and have the tools I did front and rear brakes on my 340i with brembos for $725ish
I have an 18 340 ix with the msport track package. swapped mine out with Brembo blank rotors and Akebono euroceramic pads at 40k ( wasn’t necessary) but the OEM plus upgrade is worth it. The calipers on the Msport are a fantastic brembo but they use cheaper Zimmerman rotors.
I recommend checking your oil level at 3000 miles because some vehicles burn oil. BMW and Audi especially, at 1500~2000miles I will top off.
Say goodbye to a usable 1st gear lol. Redline at like 15mph. But it’s peppy. I have the stock 325 auto diff 3.46 final drive ratio with 6sp.
I was using Mobil1 ESP 5w30 in my 530i XDrive.
I tried Motul but the oil consumption was bigger with the Motul.
BMW N51 engine, SULEV radiator, these cars came with a sensor that sticks to the side of the radiator for emissions compliance. Can't even get it aftermarket anymore (last time I checked) new radiator without the sensor is like $150, with the sensor is close to $800, and no you cannot use the old sensor, if you try sticking the old sensor to a new radiator it won't recognize it and it will trigger the check engine light.
