IIRC, my Dad's 2011 v6 Mustang, came from Ford with Michelin Energy Savers.
I put pilot sport 4s on my 2014 GT and love them. I stayed away from the run flats and they provide great feedback.
I just did exactly what you're doing -- exact same tires -- and found the Continental every bit as good as the Michelin, so I went with Continental, only in 255s in my case. Anyway, I'm really happy with my Continentals and glad I made that choice. Considering the stiffer ride that comes with wider tires the 18 Continentals proved a good choice. The handling is way better; love it.
I LOVE the Indy 500’s. They grip the road extremely well even in rain. It’s the only tire I put on my Mustang, past and present.
I have had a few cars with continental extreme contacts and loved them. I have a 23 Mach 1 that came with Pilot 4S tires, they are simply amazing. They grip the road like glue and there is zero chatter when cornering hard. I would definitely go with the 4S.
+1 for Michelin Pilot Sport 4s. Had the Cup 2’s on my PP2 (305 front and rear), they lasted 7,500 miles, lots of grip but no grip when cold or damp. Switched to PS4’s currently with 21,000 miles, and probably another ~10,000 left in them. Much better all weather performance, and they had ~90% of the grip of the Cup 2’s. Also added benefit of a slightly softer ride due to a softer sidewall.
I settled on a new set of four Yokohama Advan Sport + A/S tires in 255/40/19 with a 55K mile warranty.
I'm assuming they are the all season PZero Nero (not sure if they made a summer tire) They are "okay" tires. not great in the wet or snow, and I always end up being concerned about what they are going to do in a corner.
I had a set of Michelin hydroedge on my Mustang, they were awful. No traction in any condition, and dry-rotted similar to shown above, but not quite as bad. And only about 4 years old.
