I use Mobil1 0w40 for the last 3 years (changed twice a year) with flawless UOA reports. I upgraded this summer to M1 5w50 as I do get low pressure warnings at times during high heat and heavy traffic situations summertime. Winter going back to 0w40
Reviews of spare parts for Porsche
this solved my issues with a sloppy steering wheel since the old bearing had a lot of play in it, as well as the accessory power not coming on due to a worn down ignition switch
I just put the latter on my 2000 S, they work well.
Hawk Blues are the best I’ve driven on a street driven 930 being used on the track. Thousands of laps with different compounds. Or HPS+ if you’re not that aggressive.
I use Hawk Blues on-track and street pads off. Pads are so easy to change on our cars that it is only a 30 minute job to swap before each track day once you have some practice. The Blues are very abrasive and will clean any bedding material off the rotor if you just lightly ride the brakes for a few minutes while the pads are cold. The Blues have plenty of stopping power when cold on the street, but squeal a lot and eat through rotors very quickly. On-track they have been fade-free for me with excellent modulation using ATE TYP200 brake fluid.
I upgraded all four rotors to bigger AP Racing vented discs, upgraded my pads, added steel braided brake lines, AND replaced my air filter and did an oil change for less than what my local Porsche dealers wanted to charge me to just replace my front rotors and pads.
I own a 1999 996 C2. I have had the car for over 10 years. I bought it with 70k miles, and it now has 169,000 miles.
It is in the garage now waiting for front brakes. Have the parts, just got busy.
I recently bought a ‘16 with 6,500 miles. Most everything checked out but the tires were original and dry rotted to hell.
944 were notorious for leaky steering racks. We replaced many ZF steering racks in 944s back in the day. Usually when they went south, they would leave a sizeable puddle of ATF, underneath the car. Sometimes you need to pull the rack boots back, and the fluid would pour out.
With the GTS, we had problems with the air suspension (which was very expensive)
