My Jetta is a 99 and I've replaced the battery once. The first lasted 6 years and the second is still going at almost 7 years. Unless I'm lucky factory batteries will last longer than store brand.
Reviews of spare parts for Volkswagen
it was just over 115 for the battery at the dealer, install was easy, as soon as you get creative it could become more difficult. for the money its not a bad battery
Took my chances and bought the Duralast CTS for $11 and so far so good. Engine cranked over without pressing the accelerator pedal.
Recently I did a tune up on the car, which consisted of a Amsoil/Mann Fuel Filter. However, I was still experiencing it on occasions before the tune up was made.
Im running Koni FSDs on my passat which is the identical platform. And they are a great set up.
Rear brake pads replaced at 42k.
I bought mine and have spent close to 2k on it already. Needed a he'd gasket so I did a 2.0 16v swap. But put all new gaskets, motor mounts, shift kit, etc. Don't skimpy on doing it right.
I had the same problem: this is what I had done: replaced rotors and brakepads, short time result replaced the wheelbearings and hubs, and new rotors again, shudder almost gone, only noticable on very flat roads and only on some speeds replaced all the control arms and that solved the whole problem.
My last vw, jetta, the rears always got scalloped eventually, even with rotations...now on the CC, just had the tires again rotated with the 30k service and the noise from the front is annoying as hell...that droning reverbish kind of sound.
ive been using that fram filter since my girl got her '94 2.0 jetta and i thought it was the oil pump about to go... her oil light only goes on when shes driving slow but she'll downshift and once it goes up in rpm's the light goes off...
