I have Hakka R5 on my GTI and Gislaved on my Golf SW. Both have been excellent for me and my needs.

I run 225/40/18 Michelin XIce3 in my 2018R. I bought OEM 18inch Audi BBS CH wheels from a B7 S4 which fit perfectly.

I had 225/40 R18 on mine last Winter and had no issues with it. Tires were Conti's WinterContact TS870. I was very happy with those tires. We got some pretty sewere snow last year and my R pushed through like nothing.

Pros: very happy with tires

Braking:

Mk6 2.5L A/T. They just work. Brakes last forever, no engine or transmission issues, none of the weird mk4 body problems with windows or wipers, just great cars.

Pros: brakes last forever

Cons: no issues

Warning light:

Hi! I have a Golf mk6 2009 160hp. I got the Christmas lights at the dash and the dealer said new abs unit for >€1200... I found a guy to repair it (he has repaired lots of units) and when I plugged in the repaired unit all the lights went away.

Pros: lights went away

Cons: bad feel at the brake

Braking:

I used Stoptech sport pads and am kind of regretting it. They don't seem to have great initial bite so I may swap to something else this summer.

Leaks:

My 2016 Mk7 GTI is on its 4th water pump/thermostat housing. The first replacement happened at about 27K miles, the second failed at 63K miles, and the third failed at 72K miles. I fully expect this one to leak again soon. I find it ridiculous that VW/Audi don't fix a faulty part after all these years. The plastic thermostat housing is to blame. Instead of a metal housing which can handle the thermal stresses, they continue to use a plastic housing which will start leaking sooner or later.

Cons: fails repeatedly, plastic housing, leaks sooner or later
