I like the bilstein setup better.

I regret putting B6’s on my 530i, the OE sport suspension rode much nicer and handled just as well.
I also had to warranty one of the front struts after a year due to a clunking noise, apparently it’s a very common issue caused by the inverted design.
I have an 84 gti running Neuspeed sport springs. I just swapped out my Bilsteen strut inserts for Bilsteen struts. It's a nice tight and somewhat low setup.
So, for those out there interested in that suspension setup I will say- do not do it. The two together create far too much spring compression and effectively nullify any useful articulation of the suspension. My camber was all sorts of screwy, and if I hit a pot hole or bump in the road, it sounded like the front struts were trying to blast through my hood.
My 2012 had about 95k miles on it when I replaced the struts this past December. I went with Bilstein B6s and have been happy with them.
Got b4 struts for my e92 with sport suspension back in may-june from them. Holding up good, no issues. Had the rear shocks done a couple months before and bought locally but theyre holding up good too, also b4's.
Then pair them with some Bilstein B4 struts. I have the B4s on my 2008 SE 2.5 and they're fantastic, especially for the price.
Guess I lucked out when I ordered my B6's (talked to the company first and knew they were 4 days out)
Bilsteins suck on the E30 platform. I bought my car with them and the ride quality was trash.
So I have the Bilsteins with Eibach springs. City driving sucks a big one. Just too stiff to give in the pot hole heaven, train track crossing, city. On a nice surface they are excellent performers. Really shined on the tail of the dragon.
