I've replaced the alternator (failed on me), done waterpump & thermostat (180,000km done as a precaution).

If you really want to buy this one (I find the price quite high, but I don’t know the specific market in Norway), buy an OBD adapter and EVScanner app on iOS with the BMW module. You can check the SOH of the battery and the general state of it as the replacement could be quite costly (around 1500 per module and you could have to replace up to the six if all fail or the BMS). I’d guess the SOH would be at best around 85%, maybe less. The engine itself is pretty reliable as it’s a detuned B48 from the 330i. Go to the infotainment and check the stats from factory and the percentage of eDrive kilometers (full electric) compared to the total kilometers, it would give you an idea of how the car was used and how much charging it got. This specific model of car is great to drive if you can charge everyday and you drive mainly short distances. I do around 80 km daily, almost all highway and my average consumption on those drives is 3.5 liters and 10 kWh/100, so it’s about 2/3 of the cost of my previous car, while beeing a lot better to drive. I’d still buy a 320 or 330i instead because there will be less things that could fail and I would probably not want to get such a high mileage PHEV without knowing how it’s been previously used. Source: I have a 330e from 2021 with 112k km and the SOH of the battery is 90% with around 1400 cycles. Average consumption since factory is 4.9 l/100 km and about half of the distance have been made fully electric.
spacers definitely weren’t there. Unbolted rack, bent tabs down, put spacers in, bolted it back up, good to go! Shocker - much smoother ride and quieter engine not that it’s not sitting on the rack/subframe
I have an e34 518i as my second car and I daily it (I’m 18). It’s a brilliant second car and pretty reliable for the most part, its a 30 year old car so expect the off electrical gremlin. Sills are normally the killers for these cars. Have a good look at the jacking points and take off the sill covers if you buy one and make sure it doesn’t need any welding. I would recommend not getting the 518i as I had to redo the HEADGASKET but other than that they are good. Make sure to get it to speed and make sure it doesn’t have the usual 55mph wheels wobble. Brilliant cars though! Do it!!
I run stage 2+ on e40 and daily it. Nobody needs this amount of power for a daily (500hp 3.4s 0-60). Also just hit 100k miles and I drive the hell out of it; just routine maintenance.
Did brake rotors and pads myself parts about 400-500$. Brakes never wore out either they just warped.
2018 BMW F30 318d: Fragile windshields? We’re on the 3rd one already. Oil filter housing was replaced at 125k km due to a cracked coolant passage. OEM unit was plastic and was replaced with a metal one. Wheel speed sensors have been replaced twice already.
I got stung having to replace all of mine and coding them all.
dont get one with spiders if you live near any potholes, they are made of cheese and you'll spend your life getting them welded
In over 20+ years of owning BMWs, and 35 years of owning other brands, I’ve never had a windshield crack. Then yesterday my 2024 M4 X40i with 7000 miles got hit by a people and bam, not just a chip, it cracked halfway across. Unfortunately, mine is on the driver’s side, right at my eyeline.
