I like exedy and I wouldn\u2019t run an XTD clutch but I figured the flywheel would be fine.

I just did an Exedy 'OEM' type kit from Goodwin with a new Master Cylinder and a new Slave Cylinder and a long Braided clutch line from Master to Slave and I have Zero complaints! Everyone at Goodwin is Top Notch and Exedy stands by their product! I also did a light weight Exedy Flywheel. This was all on a 94 1.8 that I just bought that had the exact same Throwout Bearing grinding that you are talking about! And, once I got in there I found that the Pilot bearing was also seized. I did the rear main since I was in there too lol.
Exedy OEM replacement kit has never failed me.
I have an Exedy stage 1 with lightweight flywheel and I love it.
Exedy Stage 3 Hyper Single clutch kit. 11lbs lighter than stock unit.
the clutch Exedy OEM Clutch Kit - VW VR6 12V Corrado 1992 - 1995 VR6 Golf 1995 - 1998 VR6 Jetta 1999 & 2004 VR6 Passat 1993 - 1997 VR6
The springs always pop out under hard use (at the track) the problem is that most clutch kits use exedy and just re-brand it. they are good for everyday driving, but for anything else, they don't hold up well
