Basically I started with a brand new set of MK5-look Hella lamps, and cut them up to fit actual D2S factory MK5 Bi-Xenon projectors in them, and wired it all with theretrofitsource.com bulbs and ballasts. These are as nice as can be, and really have tremendous and clean light output.
So, I built these headlights a couple years ago for my R32. Basically I started with a brand new set of MK5-look Hella lamps, and cut them up to fit actual D2S factory MK5 Bi-Xenon projectors in them, and wired it all with theretrofitsource.com bulbs and ballasts. Some 30 year old Hella Smileys for my 448k mile car really seemed to clean things up.
Replaced the oil level sensor on my M3 with a Hella brand one that was over $100 cheaper than the oem one. When I go under the car to actually change it out I notice the new one is the exact same sensor but the BMW emblem is sanded off.
I can vouch for the quality of these lights, they and a huge u[grade from the stock setup: they have a nice output and cutoff.
Hella is just going to be better quality than those no-name brands.
Mine came with a nice set of IPF e-codes. I want to replace them with some Hellas to add the city light.
It's decent my dad has headlight for his f11 from them because the Hella are not available so it was planned to be temporary but it's pretty fine few manufacturing flaws but you need to look close to find them.
I purchased theses lights... between damaged in shipping and dry-rot the plastic mounting brackets shattered. seller refunded my money and life goes on.
