This is normal. Funnily enough, a Toyota dealer is probably the cheapest place to get a 0w20 oil change (TGMO from Exxon-Mobil) and OE filter for your vehicle.

I suggest you to use 5W40. I have a Toyota Auris and i change them every 7.500km without filter change and at 15.000 km with filter change. In my city at summer the temperature is about 40°C on summer and I have 257.000 km. I haven't any problems till now. My engine running smooth and never burned oil.
When I worked at Scarb.Lexus Toyota I remember the oil filters were definitely a different world of change from the filters you pick up in stores, everything from the seals to the inside filter paper were superior so I always get my filter from the dealer.
Toyota hybrids have no starter, no belts, no alternator to wear out and the brake pads and disks last around 100,000 miles due to little use
My in-laws Toyota is at 230k original timing belt miles.
Brand new exhaust and o2 sensors, new MAF sensor. New fuel filter.
I replaced mine with the OME Toyota part, was night and day better. I paid 390 from the local here, was advised this is one part you might want to stick with the manufacturers part. Definitely was worth it
I have a 2014 Tundra and had my unit go out. I believe it to be heat related because I found the cooling fan on the unit not to be working. I blew it out with compressed air and it has come back to life ( was out for about a week). Out of caution, I am going to replace the fan.
I don't recommend toyota oem fluid for hard driving because it seems to cook easily.
I have a 2010 with 218k miles loses zero oil but I lose coolant think I have a head issue. But I've put about 20k on the car just topping off coolant once a week. I would say the head gasket issue is pretty high I've never had a car with a bad head until now.
