Got quoted 3k CAD for pads/rotors, bought Zimmerman drilled and brembo ceramics for 1500 and did them myself. Took 4 hrs taking my time, very simple job if you have the means to do it yourself
Personally, I like to use ceramic brake pads wherever possible from a quality manufacturer. They produce less brake dust, seem to last longer, and are very quiet. I put ceramics on all my cars. I also like Zimmerman rotors. They're actually more expensive than the OE/OEM rotors, but I like the quality and think they're worth the price.
Get OEM pads and zimmerman brake rotors, best bang for the buck
Zimmerman for rotors, those are OE and akebono or textar for pads, I would go with an original sensor though since some of the aftermarket ones have had issues for longevity. Also buy them from FCPeuro
I did Zimmerman crossed drilled for the front & Brembo cross drilled on the backwith Akebono pads. Absolutely love the look & performance.
Zimmermann has been my go-to, but any of the fully coated options would work fine. I would avoid the uncoated ones as they rust to shit fairly quickly.
Got a new brake set Zimmermann on my S5 and immediately got this look - the anti rust coating around the front rotor edges don’t want to come off. The rear ones are fine and have even wear. 1,5k miles later it’s still digging my eyes.
I've used Zimmerman rotors on a track day, they held up through a couple of sessions without warping. Seems decent enough for me.
I've run Zimmerman Z coat rotors on my GTI the whole time I've owned it and they're great.
