ACDelco makes a brand new alternator for $95. They were the OEM for GM.
Owner reviews for alternator
Bosch is a OE supplier to BMW - I would choose that over Valeo if it were a choice I needed to make.
I installed a new BOSCH alternator in my MERCEDES-BENZ 190E 2.0 1991, and unlike the old one, this one has a **D+ port, a B+ port 1, and a B+ port 2.**
For anyone looking for a drop in upgrade, I used a 105 amp for a Suzuki. Made by Denso. No harness needed, plugs right in. Going strong for a couple years now in my 3rd gen.
I went with RockAuto as well, but went with the AC Delco Gold Reman that was wound to have 135 Amp output instead of the OEM standard (~110 I think) I want to say it was around ~$170 with a $45 core deposit. AC Delco is a solid name in parts, and I believe was reman'd in Mexico.
I just replaced mine and went with a denso reman. They are the makers of the oem alternator so I’d trust them more than other brands.
I just went through a headache replacing my 3rd alternator in 2 years. I took it to the shop and they put an oem alternator in it and told me not to buy the parts store alternators. It's fine if you don't mind pulling them out to replace every year or so.
Well, I'm late to the party, my alternator failed today at 45,000ish miles. Oh, and 2 months after the warranty expired. The silver lining is that my buddy owns a shop that works on Audis.
My vehicle had this issue and they said it was because there was a bad batch of batteries in some of the models which was causing the alternator to fail. I had several issues with this vehicle around 50k miles such as failed alternator which was replaced because of the warranty but this should be a recall!!! Very dangerous and unreliable.
I have a 2002 acura el 1.7... battery lite in. Have put 3 aftermarket alternators in it, a new battery. Replaced all grounds, now replaced the ecm. Battery lite still on and car won't charge.
