I got the powerstop set for the front. Heavy duty drilled/slotted rotors, nice pads and new calipers for 200 bucks.

I've always had good luck with the coated Centric rotors I've gotten from RA. No warping, good corrosion resistance.
I've done the Centric e-coat rotors and ceramic pads from Rock Auto on 4 of my vehicles over the years and have been very happy. Rotors don't turn into a ball of rust after getting wet once, let alone thru a salty Midwest winter. Pads seem to have good bite and consistent stopping power (1 set was on my old Mazda3) and no noise or dust.
I added in spark plugs and brake rotors and pads too since I was on factory brakes still. Brakes could have probably lasted another 15K miles but they’re 5 years old, lasted 100K miles
Had great luck with the Centric Premium rotors and the Power Stop Z23 pads, which have good bite and no dust.
A friend got quoted too much for a brake job while I was visiting out of state and they were only going to turn the rotors. So, I volunteered to do the job. All I had was the spare jack and tire iron. I bought a set of wrenches and a cheap c-clamp from HF to do the job. Yup, sure have a ton of the right tools at home. This just got-r-done. Buttery smooth brakes with new Centric rotors!
Zimmerman rotors and Akebono pads pair up nicely, all from FCP euro
I went with hawk rotors and pads I think the Lts pads they feel way nicer then the old one stuff.
My Golf R's brakes look like this as well. I have 10K + miles on them but they have been like this since 2-3K miles. I'll say it's "normal". Even though i haven't experienced it with other cars that i can recall.
Our rear rotors are garbage. The front seem fine but i can see rust marks for where my pads rest when i park it for the weekend. Im researching our incredibly limited options on rear rotors at the moment.
