OEM Volkswagen Gear oil

I changed the fluid because I wanted to be running a superior fluid compared to what was put in from the factory. That being said when I drained the factory gear oil with under 2k on the odo it already smelled burnt but obviously there was no color change since it was hardly used but just based on the smell of the gear oil you can often tell how hard it is being worked and how well it is holding up to the stress inside the diff itself.

Pros: superior fluid, factory fluid inferior
Cons: factory gear oil smelled burnt
Mileage: 2000 km

RED LINE Gear oil

When I was driving the American Passat, I switched it over to RedLine MT-90 at one point, and it was like buying a new transmission. The stuff that came out sure as hell wasn't 90W any more!

Pros: like buying a new transmission
Vehicle: Volkswagen Passat

for Chevron Delo Gear Oil. It's a little slow to thin out, but held up very well on the track with many downshifts and fast upshifts.

Pros: held up well on track
Cons: slow to thin out

Why I am writing a review about this gear oil, because since I owned this car shifting into second gear on cold morning has been a little bit hard. And last week when I went to my mechanic for an oil change as usual he used full synt Motul oil 5w40 and he suggest me to use motylgear 75w90 gear oil. REVIEW... Before: when it's below 10C outside or on the morning for the first 5 or 10 minutes it's hard to shift in second gear. Most of the time I try to rev match or shift in third skipping second gear. Even after 10 minutes sometime I get a nice grind in second gear. Now: Yesterday it was about 2C in the morning and the improvement is about 60% better and only after 2 minutes it was shifting like butter. Everything seems to be a lot more smoother and safer. I don't feel like I am going to break something when I shift in second gear, to be honest I am very surprised and happy.

Pros: shifting like butter, more smoother
Cons: hard to shift, nice grind

RED LINE Gear oil

I was having trouble a while back with a grind in third gear when I was WOT and shifting fast from 2nd to 3rd. I recently put my car back on the road and put in Red Line Heavy Shock Proof Gear Oil. I have shifted a half a dozen times fast into 3rd and I have not got a grind yet . I like this stuff so far.

Pros: no grind in third gear
