2008 Honda Civic +$100K miles, original starter died while the car was in my garage. Had it towed to a nearby mechanic who charged $500 total for parts/labor for a new starter (from Bosch). According to Google, this seemed correct.

On my gen1, when mine was going out I replaced with the s2 starter from autozone "Duralast Starter 19407". Have had no issues since.
IHI high torque starter and some sort of heat shield.
Well I began taking apart the car and removing the starter and found that a part of it was bent. I'm not sure if that's the solenoid or what it's called but I'm pretty sure it's the reason the car wouldn't start.
I’d only use OE Honda or Denso branded. I used a Denso that ordered from Rock Auto.
I replaced my starter 3 times in 9 months on my rsx.
1. Buy new. I got 2 reman densos that failed within 1 month. Cheap WAI off Amazon was cheaper and new, and it's still working after 6 mo.
Yes that is a bad starter. I actually had the starter kill a replacement battery since I thought it was that and had to get another one (thankfully under warranty through Walmart)
Honda's starter for the Fit sucks donkey butt. These starters are expensive items. Thats great, but the starter in the Fit, specifically the 2015 year model EX trim seems to be trash.
Again this is a brand new starter actually it's a rebuilt starter which is Bosch OEM. When I did remove the old starter and put in this new rebuilt Bosch OEM starter the car started right up. The next day I went out to start it and all I got was one loud "CLICK"!
Valeos are fine until the magnets fail, and they will.
