I had a 2010 Kia Forte koup and got it to 192k miles and never seen the check engine light come on, the car just needed new struts at that mileage. And it was a manual
I’ve had good results with kyb.
Monroes will be fine.
I just fitted TRW struts +eibach short springs... about 30mm lower...firmer ride without sacrificing confort.
I've replaced/upgraded the rears with loaded struts from Monroe which brought back a nice bounce in the rear end.
I got Monroe quick struts and they've been great so far.
Besides, with stock OE springs & OE struts the Tig tends to make the struts Top Out / Hyper Extend.
Although KYB makes very good bare struts, The preassembled KYB strut plus assemblies are straight up garbage. The strut top mounts and springs that KYB uses are absolutely trash and generally fail extremely quickly, if they aren't just failed right out of the box.
I did this to my 2008 ES350 with KYB quick struts. Not a professional mechanic but proficient at changing parts. I’ve managed to save tens of thousands over the years, pretending I know what I’m doing out of my garage. Ordered the KYB, looked like this or worse.
